Display Case - what is it? Why should I care?

June 25, 2008 · 2 Comments

Do you have items that you want to show off to potential customers?   You put them in your window displays or a display case to make sure people see them.

When you go to almost any website of a local retailer, you’ll see that they don’t display what they have in stock.   Not even featured items that they think would bring in customers.   This is actually probably a good decision, based on the costs of custom programming and potential security problems with running a system open to the internet.   For businesses that are aimed at local customers, the idea of implementing an ecommerce system is way more than they need.

That’s why you might be interested in the Display Case ™ feature of MyAd.com

We’ve turned off our local version of WordPress and are now using wordpress.com for our blog.  Why?

Reason #1: we want to have a resource that you can check in case there’s a problem with our site.   Something that’s not dependent in any way on our own routers, servers, bandwidth, etc.   So you can subscribe to our system status feed and just get that info.

Reason #2: we’re tired of wordpress security concerns.   We’ve got enough issues without having to worry about getting cracked because there’s an exploit.  There are probably things that we can do better here as far as responding but the point is that we don’t want to do that.   We want to concentrate on developing our site and communicating with you.

We haven’t been doing such a great job on the communicating with you recently but we’re going to try do better.  We look forward to hearing from you.
